Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

The New York Knicks just concluded celebrating their 2026 NBA championship. Now, the Knicks can turn their attention to the 2026. What do the Knicks need to focus on?

Knicks Desperately Need to Reverse Recent Draft Debacles and Hit on Their 2026 Draft Picks

Knicks  2026 Draft Targets: Sharpshooting Forward and 2 Local Products?

The Knicks’ priority in the draft should be shooting, a combo big, a big combo guard who can handle the ball, and a 3-and-D wing. The Knicks have worked out 31 players individually, including hosting Alex Karaban and Dillon Mitchell yesterday, per SNY’s Ian Begley.

Karaban is a sharpshooting forward expected to be selected late-first to mid-second round with an ADP of 34. The 23-year-old projects him as an immediate‑impact floor‑spacing forward with high IQ and connective ability. He averages 1.9 threes for his career with shooting splits of 46.8/37.4/84.4.

Mitchell is a potential second-round pick with the likelihood of receiving a two-way deal. Mitchell is an athletic, defensive-oriented forward with a high motor and high vertical pop. He is also a good passer, though shooting is a major concern.

Mitchell is not the only Johnie who has worked out for the Knicks. Six-foot-9 forward Zuby Ejiofor, who is projected to go late first-to-early second in the draft, also had an individual meeting with the team. While smaller than Robinson, Ejiofor would be the ideal replacement due to his elite defensive versatility, physicality, and offensive feel.

Last Word

So, yes, it is imperative that the Knicks hit a home run with this draft. Now, this home run doesn’t mean they have to select three players, as a trade could be even more important, as long as it fits their needs. Ejiofor and Karaban would be excellent fits for the Knicks if they are available. While Mitchell is a long-term product, he figures to be a good fit as well.
