The 2026 NBA Draft is getting closer by the day (June 23-24). Like any draft there are always surprises and one name to keep an eye on is Peter Suder.

Unheralded 2026 Prospect Making His Name Known Before 2026 NBA Draft

The NBA draft is an exciting time of the year. Teams get excited about the prospect of improving, and prospects are ready to start their professional journey. While the 2026 NBA draft is loaded with plenty of guard depth, there are always surprises, and one player who is making a name for himself is Peter Suder.

Peter Suder: One Of The Top Sleepers in the 2026 NBA Draft

Suder spent his entire collegiate career on the mid-major level. As a result, Suder was relatively unknown when he participated in the NBA Draft Combine last month in Chicago. But the 22-year-old guard has made a name for himself in individual workouts.

“I’ve done 17 workouts so far and have five more through June 20,” Suder told Grant Afseth of BallisLife. “One of the main things I’ve learned is that it’s your job now. That’s how it’s treated at the next level. It’s not really like recruiting in college. You go in, show what you can do, and then move on to the next workout. The main thing I’m working on right now is movement shooting and different types of catch-and-shoot situations. I’m just trying to perfect that skill for the next level.”

Suder has worked out for the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards. Those are the teams he has known to work out for.

Peter Suder’s Draft Profile

Suder showed improvement throughout his collegiate career. Suder was a two-star prospect coming out of Carmel (IN) high school and began his college career at Bellarmine. After spending two seasons in the A-Sun, Suder transferred to Miami (Ohio) for his final two years.

Suder produced a career season in 2025-26 and led the Redhawks to a historic 32-2 season and a MAC regular-season title. Suder averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.9 turnovers, and 1.3 steals. The 2025-26 MAC Player of the Year drained 1.3 threes a game with shooting splits of 54.6/42.1/73.4. He compiled two double-doubles and scored in double figures in 27 of his 33 appearances, including topping the 20-point mark six times. His best game came against Buffalo, where he tallied a career-high 37 points against Buffalo (January 17) on 13 of 22 shots, including 7 of 10 from the 3-point line.

Suder, who was ranked as the No. 73 prospect on ESPN’s big board heading into the NBA combine, was invited to participate in the Reese’s Senior All-Star game and Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. It was in Portsmouth that he began garnering the attention of NBA scouts and execs.

Suder was impressive enough at the PIT to earn enough votes to bypass the G-League Elite camp, which is generally the next step for players who participate in the senior event. Selected to the PIT All-Tournament Team, Suder averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in three games. He was 14 of 30 from the field (46.7%), 35.7% from the 3-point line (6 of 17), and 15 of 24 (65.5%) from the free throw line.

Suder can play both guard positions with a good frame, standing at 6-4 and weighing 213pounds. Suder has a nice feel (IQ) with the ball in his hands and is a good rebounder. He is an aggressive downhill driver, an effective spot-up shooter, and a willing playmaker. Defensively, he competes and can guard multiple positions.

Last Word

Suder is far from a guarantee to be drafted, and if he is selected, it will be late in the second round (between No. 45 and 60). The Magic (No.46), Warriors (No. 54), and Kings (No. 45) appear to be the most likely teams to draft Suder in the second round.  Regardless of whether he gets drafted or not, Suder is likely to receive a minor-league contract due to his shooting and playmaking abilities.

Besides those three teams, the Celtics, Raptors, Heat, Pacers, Nets, Pistons, and Trail Blazers are the most likely teams to offer him a two-way contract.
