Highly Sought After 25-Year-old Experienced Pro Has Upcoming College Visit

Kyree Walker appears to finally be headed to college after passing the route in 2020.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Walker will visit Alabama A&M on Monday, May 4. Walker has played in the G League and overseas, with his last verified stint being in Mongolia during the 2024-25 campaign. He has also played in Greece and Canada.

“The biggest thing is getting an education; it’s never too late to get one,” Walker told Glenn Clark Radio on Feb. 10 about why he is now wanting to go to school. “And another [reason] is just to really provide for my daughter.”

25-Year-old Experienced Pro Has Upcoming College Visit

Walker is a power wing with a strong frame and is a capable secondary scorer. The athletic 25-year-old thrives in transition and getting to the basket, though he is inconsistent as a shooter. However, defense is his calling card due to the 6-7 small forward’s quickness and ability to guard multiple positions.

While Walker appears intent on playing college basketball this year, though he doesn’t plan on playing four years, ultimately, he is looking to revamp his basketball career, likely hoping to get another opportunity to show that he can be an NBA player.

“A lot of NBA GMs and scouts feel like it’s really good for me to go back to college and revamp myself, Walker said, per Audrey Bengston of the Press Box. That’s what I’m doing. I’m not really worried too much about proving myself to anybody. … I’m going to go and do what I’ve done a lot of times in my career and dominate.”

Walker was rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN and a three-star out of Hillcrest Prep (Arizona). Walker committed to Arizona State in 2017 only to decommit in 2018.

After graduating from Hillcrest Prep, Walker decided to forego college and instead joined the Chameleon BX program, which emphasized skill refinement and physical conditioning tailored to NBA demands. Walker went undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft and ultimately landed with the Washington Wizards’ G-League affiliate, Capital City Go-Go, in 2021-22. He averaged 7.7 points and 2.7 rebounds with shooting splits of 51.5/29.8/55.8 in 35 G-League games.

“I’m a double-double guy every night,” Walker said when talking to Bengston. “… I’ve got a great motor. I impact the game in many ways. Standing at 6-7 and being able to dribble, shoot,t and be athletic, there’s not much I cannot do out there.”

Which Team Are Interested In Kyree Walker?

While Walker will be on Alabama A&M’s campus on Monday, he has garnered a lot of attention since being cleared by the NCAA’s eligibility clearinghouse. Alabama A&M went 18-15 and 10-8 in SWAC play under first-year coach Donte Jackson, marking the Bulldogs’ first winning campaign since 2004-05. The Bulldogs have been to the NCAA Tournament once in program history.

Alabama A&M lost its top four scorers from last year’s team, as well as two players to the transfer portal. Jackson has secured the commitment of Coastal Carolina transfer Devin Brown, giving the Bulldogs potentially nine players for 2026-27.

Walker visited Mayland in February after being in contact with Terrapins head coach Buzz Williams and assistant Aki Collins.  He is also friends with Maryland’s 2026 signee Kaden House.  However, the Terrapins currently have 15 players on their 2026-27 roster, including 10 newcomers, four of whom are freshmen.

LSU, UCLA, Missouri, BYU, Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech are reportedly the other schools interested in Walker.
