MIAMI — The Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors have emerged as the leading trade destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Brett Siegel revealed on Monday evening that Milwaukee wants Miami’s farm of young talent as well as Tyler Herro. That is a deservedly steep price for a top-three player in his prime.
2024 Trade Comes Back To Haunt Heat In Giannis Trade Talks
The Price of a Superstar

The Heat are seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 27–24 record. Giannis’ arrival would position the Heat as title contenders. In return, the Bucks want all of Miami’s young assets, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints revealed in his latest report.
“The Heat are not actively shopping Wiggins, and he is expected to remain in South Beach, especially with Miami also pursuing Antetokounmpo and holding onto every asset possible to maximize its trade offer to Milwaukee. Ongoing discussions have also taken place between the Bucks and Heat regarding Antetokounmpo, yet league sources say Milwaukee wants all of Miami’s young assets, including Tyler Herro.” Milwaukee prioritizes young talent because they do not control their own picks for the foreseeable future.
A Costly Mistake
The Heat can currently trade only two first-rounders outright, compared to the Warriors’ four. The Heat could have matched that position if not for a now-infamous trade in January 2024. Miami acquired Terry Rozier for an aging Kyle Lowry and a lottery-protected 2027 first-rounder. That 2027 pick would have allowed the Heat to trade up to four first-rounders outright in Giannis Antetokounmpo talks.
Rozier has been involved in a federal gambling probe since January. He spent 2019 to 2024 with the Hornets. Rozier is linked to unusual gambling patterns before a March 2023 game against the Pelicans. He played only nine minutes and 36 seconds before leaving with a foot injury. Bettors in Louisiana and Mississippi placed over $200,000 on his under props. Some argue Charlotte traded Rozier to Miami with this knowledge. They believe Miami should gain sole ownership of the first-rounder. That outcome remains unlikely at this stage.
