Big East Power Rankings: Hoyas Making Some Early Noise

The Big East certainly had an interesting second week of the 2025-26 season. This week’s Big East power rankings certainly showcase that, as several teams had a rough week. Meanwhile, Dan Hurley’s Huskies remained a top dawg, while the Georgetown Hoyas have taken a massive step this week. It appears to be a dog conference thus far.

Let’s take a closer look at the next addition of the Big East power rankings.

Big East Power Rankings: Hoyas Making Some Early Noise

1. UConn (4-0)

After handling Columbia early in the week, behind 23 points from Solo Ball, UConn had to be ready for a stiff challenge against #7 BYU. Unquestionably, the Huskies were more than ready. Silas Demary Jr‘s 21 points and a clutch steal helped UConn remain unbeaten in an 86-84 thriller against the Cougars and AJ Dybantsa. A huge home win for UConn, as they gear up for another Top 10 Clash on November 19th against Top Five-ranked Arizona.

2. Georgetown (4-0)

The Hoyas certainly made a statement early on this season. After winning on the road at Maryland during the opening week of the season. Georgetown was able to back it up with two wins this week. KJ Lewis made an impact in both games. First, he had 20 points to lead the Hoyas to a win against Binghamton. Not only that, but they followed the victory up with an impressive 26 points in a resume win against a solid Clemson team. Lewis had 17 of those 26 points in the first half. Don’t look now, but the Hoyas certainly made a huge climb in the Big East power rankings. They don’t play against Wagner until Saturday, November 22nd, but Georgetown fans should be pleased early on.

3. Creighton (2-1)

A blowout loss against No. 19 Gonzaga isn’t anything to be worried about for Creighton. Unquestionably, the Kennel was a hard place to play. They certainly got back on track with their 84-45 win against Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday. They needed to find an offensive rhythm after the poor second-half performance at Gonzaga, and they did that in the win against the Hawks. A match-up with North Dakota on Wednesday should give Creighton a great shot to build some momentum.

4. St. John’s (2-1)

The Red Storm were able to rebound from their home defeat against Alabama. They certainly took care of business against William & Mary, leaving them in the dust with a 93-60 victory on Saturday. The Tribe stood no chance after a 19-0 run during the second half led to a 66-36 lead with almost 13 and a half minutes left in the second half. That was more than enough in a game that was close in the opening half. St. John’s is alright despite the slip-up against the Tide.

5. Seton Hall (4-0)

The surprise team right now might be the Pirates, who sit 4-0 after the first two weeks of the season. Sure, the schedule has been pretty light. However, you play who you play. With Monmouth the only game on the schedule this week, Seton Hall should be 5-0 heading into their clash with NC State.

6. Butler (3-1)

The Bulldogs just didn’t have enough late against SMU as they suffered their first loss in an 87-85 game on the road in Dallas. It was a good showing from Finley Bizjack with 18 points, but the rally from the Bulldogs wasn’t quite enough. The focus for Butler turns to an upcoming clash with South Carolina at the Greenbriar Tip-Off in West Virginia on Friday.

7. Villanova (3-1)

The Wildcats have had a strong start to the Kevin Willard era. Despite falling short against Alabama to start the season, Nova has put together some nice wins. They take a three-game winning streak into a visit to fellow Philadelphia area school La Salle on Wednesday night. Bryce Lindsay is beginning to prove he belongs in the Big East.

8. Marquette (3-2)

Shaka Smart‘s Golden Eagles are treading water early. They have three wins, but their two big match-ups thus far, both at neutral sites and against teams from the Big Ten, have definitely been disappointing. This is a group that needs to find its footing and quickly.

9. Providence (2-2)

The Friars have looked like two different teams thus far. From handling Holy Cross and Penn, to completely falling apart against Power Four foes. A road trip to Boulder went sour for Providence, as Colorado proved to be too much with a 97-88 win. Not good enough right now for the Friars.

10. Xavier (2-2)

After a productive opening week, the Musketeers took a 180 this past week. First, they dropped a home contest in ugly fashion against Santa Clara. They followed it up with a road visit to Iowa, and that turned ugly, too. Undoubtedly, back to the drawing board with games against Old Dominion and Georgia ahead this week.

11. DePaul (2-2)

Was the 2-0 start too much for DePaul? It certainly seems that way, as they went 0-2 in their games this past week. A disappointing loss at home against Buffalo on Tuesday night, added to the heartbreaking two-point loss against Northwestern on Friday night. The Blue Demons find themselves at the bottom of the Big East power rankings all too quickly.
