No Beef? Draymond Snubs Durant on Favorite Teammates List

Draymond Green left Kevin Durant off his favorite teammates list after saying there’s no beef. The snub reignites talks of an old rivalry.

Green and Durant played together on the Golden State Warriors from 2016 to 2019, reaching three NBA finals and winning two championships. Despite their on-court dominance, their partnership was overshadowed by reports of tension.

Green insists there’s no beef with Durant, yet leaving him off his favorite teammates list surely raises eyebrows, especially given how much success they shared together at Golden State.

Green’s Picks

The four-time NBA All-Star is in his 14th season with the Dubs, having been drafted out of Michigan State in 2012. Green has spent his entire career in Golden State, sharing the court with a magnitude of talent, but leaving out one player makes the omission hard to ignore.

When asked by NBC about his top five favorite Warriors teammates, Green listed players past and present who helped shape the dynasty: Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Buddy Hield, Jarrett Jack, and David Lee. Yet, leaving out the current Houston Rockets star, Durant, is sure to reignite talk of their rivalry.

No Beef… But Tension?

What’s most shocking to the NBA world is the recent war of words between Green and Durant over basketball philosophies. Durant claimed on Netflix’s “Starting 5” that offense wins championships, while Green fired back, insisting it was defense that secured the Warriors’ titles when they shared the court. Durant questioned his assertion and simply said:

The Warriors forward was quick to insist there’s no bad blood with the 15-time NBA All-Star on his podcast, saying:

“This ain’t no beef. Ain’t no beef between KD and Draymond, but we gonna talk our s–t because that’s what we both do and we both love to do it. And we would do this sitting together with each other and y’all don’t see it. We’ll do it and y’all do see it. Make no mistake about it, ain’t no goddamn beef.”

Green’s fiery nature, combined with Durant’s competitive persona, means sparks are inevitable, yet even amid disagreement, mutual respect still remains between the two stars.

The Rivalry Today

It seems that nowadays, Green and Durant’s rivalry is less like a classic NBA feud and more like an ego and legacy clash.
It’s no secret that Durant left the Warriors for Brooklyn in 2019, due to ongoing tensions with Green. And despite both insisting there’s no beef, their rivalry has lingered ever since.
Sure, they can disagree over the importance of offense and defense, but leaving out a former teammate after an online altercation is hardly a coincidence. Whether on the court, on social media, or in a favorites list, the tension between Green and Durant shows that some NBA rivalries never fully fade; they just evolve, waiting for the next chapter.
