Expectation: Translating His Offense To The NBA

Rounding out the Jazz’s most recent draft class is Wisconsin forward John Tonje, whom Utah took with the 53rd overall pick. Despite his size at 6-foot-5, Tonje is a big-bodied forward who utilizes his size to power through contact on drives. Furthermore, he’s a solid 3-point shooter and overall floor spacer.

For Tonje, most of his value will be on the offensive end. Keeping that in perspective, though he used his strength effectively against college-level competition, the NBA will be far more physical. There are questions about whether his aggressive play-style will translate against better competition. If so, his brutish offense will allow him to be more than a shooter at the NBA level.
