Thomas delivered another historic night with 12 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists, breaking her own record of six triple-doubles in a single season set in 2023. She reached the milestone with a jumper in the lane at the 2:50 mark. This marked the third consecutive season in which she set a new record. Thomas scored 11 of her 12 points in the second half to go along with her 16 rebounds and 15 assists.

The 33-year-old also finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 assists in a win on Friday, and on Wednesday against the Sparks, she became the first player in WNBA history to post at least 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a single game. She also became the first player in WNBA or NBA history to record at least 12 rebounds and 15 assists in back-to-back games.

“I think this has been my game my entire career,” Thomas, who was battling an illness, said. “A lot of credit to my teammates for knocking down their open shots. I’m able to be comfortable and play my game, make the reads that I see, and it was no different tonight… Happy I made it through. Still not feeling my best, but a win always helps.”

Phoenix Mercury Head Coach Praises Thomas

Thomas scored just one point in the first half after attempting two shots but still handed out 10 assists and grabbed seven rebounds. She went on to secure her seventh triple-double in August, an achievement unmatched in WNBA history. No other player has recorded more than one triple-double in a single calendar month, and no one has more than four in an entire career.

The 33-year-old forward has played a key role in the Mercury’s push for the postseason, helping the team hold fourth place with a 22-14 record. She is also enjoying a career-best season, averaging 16 points, 9.2 assists, and 8.8 rebounds per game.

“I’m just impressed with her focus, her desire, her want to each and every night,” Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts said. “I’m happy she finally got the franchise [record] because I think she’s got 15 assists two or three times. What she does for us, it’s special and I’m glad she took a chance coming here to Phoenix.”

By recording her seventh triple-double of the season, Alyssa Thomas not only sets a new WNBA record but also solidifies her legacy as one of the most versatile and impactful players in league history. Her leadership, skill, and resilience continue to inspire teammates and fans alike as the Phoenix Mercury push toward the postseason.
