Controversial Warriors Player Records Rare Stat Line in Loss

Draymond Green recorded a unique stat line in lose.

Draymond Green has been a vital part of four Golden State Warriors championship teams. The defensive stalwart can make an impact without lighting up the scoreboard. That includes on the offensive end where he serves as a main fulcrum often playing point forward.

On Friday night, the Warriors fell to the New Orleans Pelicans by the score of 114-109. That dropped Golden State to 45-36 with just one regular season game remaining.

In the loss, the 34-year-old Green did something extremely rare when it comes to his stats for the night. He became just the fourth player in NBA history to record a double-double without scoring a single point.

Draymond Becomes Just Fourth Player With 0-Point Double-Double

Finishing with a double-double isn’t necessarily a rare occurrence for Green. The second-round pick in 2012 now has 153 in his career during the regular season. The four-time All-Star has also tallied 32 triple-doubles.

What was rare though was his final stat line in Friday’s game. In 36 minutes, Green had 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and zero points. As mentioned, he became just the fourth player with a zero-point double-double. Two of the others happened fairly recently.

On March 30, 2022, Tomas Satoransky of the Washington Wizards accomplished the feat. In 27 minutes against the Orlando Magic, he went scoreless with 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Satoransky has only played in six NBA games since as he is currently playing in the Czech Republic.

Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder was the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. In his rookie season on December 26, 2021, Giddey had a zero-point outing along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 28 minutes.

The first time it happened was way back in 1971. The player was Norm Van Lier, a three-time All-Star. On January 5 1971, while with the Cincinnati Royals, Van Lier’s final box score consisted of zero points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.

Green Didn’t Attempt a Single Shot

Satoransky, Giddey, and Van Lier at least gave themselves an opportunity to score. The ball just didn’t go through the net.

In Friday’s game, Green did not have any field goal or free throw attempts.

In 55 games this season, the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. Over the course of his 12 year career, Green has posted averages of 8.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
