Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reeves established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. Reeves looks to do more in the FIBA World Cup.

Reeves was named to the USA team for the up-and-coming FIBA World Cup 2023. He gets a charge out of a brilliant rise within the NBA recent past season, his moment with the Lakers.

He did that fundamentally in an off-ball shooting guard role amid the Lakers’ late-season turnaround. Furthermore, Reaves exceeded expectations in his part. Reeves averaged about 17 points per game on 46 percent shooting amid his team’s astounding playoff run.

Steve Kerr, the USA coach, saw Austin Reaves’ killer run when he assisted the Lakers defeat Kerr’s champion staple Golden State Warriors at the NBA playoffs. He knew Reaves is a great asset for the USA. It was not an enormous surprise that he was within the squad.

A Brother’s Influence

Speaking to Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson at the hosted “All The Smoke” podcast, he talked about how his elder brother instilled his work ethic, “But my brother used to drag me to the gym at 7AM and he would always preach to me, ‘You gotta do more. You’re from this area, where you’re not going to get much publicity, recognition…”

As the USA started their arrangements on August 2, preparing for Group C division in Manila against Greece, New Zealand, and Jordan, Reaves recall memories. He looks a while back when his future wasn’t as shinning. Or at slightest, when he still had so much to prove.

Reeves’ Start to Stardom

But things have gone so well for Reeves. Being part of the NBA playoffs, to signing a 7 figures signature shoe deal with a Chinese brand called Rigorer.

“And also, just stay in the gym … It’s really about locking in for a short period of time because I hear a lot of time that it goes fast … (Now) I’m going into my third year and it feels like the other day we were sitting there on draft night wondering what’s next.” says Reeves on the podcast.

FIBA is a great test to start Reeves journey to stardom.
