LWOS presents its final college basketball bracketology

The time has finally come! Selection Sunday gets circled on every college basketball fan’s calendar. After waiting for this moment for two years, we are getting a bracket this season. The NCAA Tournament is going to look different. The risk of a game getting declared no contest remains a possibility. However, the NCAA feels that they have done enough to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved. Without further ado, here is our final college basketball bracketology projection. You can compare it to our prior edition from a few days ago.

Top Seeds

The final seeds appear to be set in stone. Gonzaga takes the top seed after going undefeated. Baylor remains as the second overall seed despite their upset loss in the Big 12 Tournament. Illinois jumps over Michigan, but both teams still end up on the top line.

Alabama ends up as the fifth overall seed after earning the SEC regular-season and tournament titles. Iowa and Ohio State follow behind, with both having good showings in the Big Ten Tournament. Houston gets the nod for the final two seed after coasting to the AAC Tournament title.

Texas is the first three seed, earning their spot after winning the Big 12 Tournament. Kansas follows behind, surging back onto this seed level after a mid-season slump. Arkansas takes the next three seed after their impressive run to end the season. Oklahoma State and Cade Cunningham take the final three seed after taking down Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament.

Villanova falls all the way to the four line after their early exit in the Big East Tournament. West Virginia also ends up as a four, however they will be a dangerous group in this slot. Florida State’s ACC Championship appearance keeps them on the four line. Finally, Purdue holds on as the last of the top 16 teams in the projection.

College Basketball Bracketology Bubble Teams

The last four teams into this field are Louisville, Drake, Utah State, and Wichita State. Louisville slipped down throughout the week after losing their first game in the ACC Tournament. Drake hangs on after having to endure multiple bid thieves. Utah State’s Mountain West runner-up appearance keeps them above the cut line. Finally, Wichita State’s victory over Houston and their AAC regular-season title make them the final team included in the field.

The first four teams out are Syracuse, Saint Louis, Colorado State, and Memphis. Syracuse and Saint Louis miss out due to Georgetown and Oregon State winning their respective league tournaments. Colorado State became the odd team out in the Mountain West when they lost to Utah State in the tournament semifinals. Meanwhile, Memphis is left thinking about what-if had they beaten Houston in both of their tries over the past week. Keep in mind that the first four teams left out of the field become alternates for any at-large teams that would have to leave the field due to a positive COVID test.
