Milwaukee Bucks Fire Head Coach Jason Kidd

After three and a half years with the team, the Milwaukee Bucks have fired head coach Jason Kidd. During his tenure, he led the franchise to a 139-152 record and two playoff appearances.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that the Milwaukee Bucks have fired head coach Jason Kidd. With the Bucks Kidd had a record of 139-152, leading them to the playoffs twice.

This is a move that seemed inevitable. With many seeing this season as the one where the Bucks would make the leap and become a top team in the East, they have underachieved. The team was 23-22 and sitting at the 8th seed when Kidd was fired. There was a point where the Bucks were five games above .500 this season and seemed to be headed in the right direction, but that has not been the case.

The firing did not sit well with the star of the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to sources, he was “devastated” with the move and tried to fight for Kidd’s job. It seems that even though the team was underachieving, the star player and coach had a strong relationship. That can sometimes keep the coach their job because of the trust the star has in the coach.

Going Forward

For now, assistant coach Joe Prunty will be the interim head coach. He coached the team in Monday night’s win against the Phoenix Suns. In the off-season, expect to see them make a thorough search for their new coach. With the load of talent in Milwaukee, the right coach can unlock the potential and make the Bucks a force to be reckoned with.

Because of the opportunity to coach a player like Antetokounmpo, this might be the hottest coaching job in the NBA. Coaches who already have jobs might want to leave their team for Milwaukee. There are going to be a plethora of coaches who will want the chance to be interviewed. But for now, Kidd is out of a job and will be looking for opportunities elsewhere.
