Leslie Alexander Announces Intentions to Sell Houston Rockets

Alexander has been with the Rockets for some of their greatest moments, most notably their back-to-back championships in 1994 and 1995, which were his first two seasons as the owner. Since then, he has only done good for the franchise, currently having them as one of the top teams in the NBA with their franchise player James Harden under contract until 2023.

Alexander did an excellent job during his time as owner of the Rockets. Players would rave about how active he was with them. He made sure they were being treated as best as possible and would stand up for them. During Game 5 of the first round of the playoffs this past season, Alexander approached a ref mid-game to voice his anger about the officiating towards the Rockets. Things like that are what made the players love having Alexander around.

After purchasing the team for $85 million, the Rockets are likely going to be purchased for over a billion dollars. They are a popular team around the world, which helps their worth. Someone who has expressed interest in purchasing the team is Tilman Fertitta, who is the Chairman and CEO of Landry’s and the Golden Nugget hotels.

The Rockets will need to be careful with who they decide to be the owner. It is one of the most important positions for an NBA team. They will need to make the players’ happiness a priority and be okay with taking risks. Alexander was always willing to spend extra money to put the team in the best position. It will be interesting to see who the next owner of the Rockets will be.
