The Atlanta Hawks and point guard Dennis Schroder have agreed to a 4 year, $70 million dollar extension.
Marc Stein of ESPN first broke the news Wednesday afternoon.

Schroder was in line to become a free agent at year’s end, and would’ve been one of the premier guards available on the open market. Schroder staying in Atlanta means that the Hawks have the young guard locked up long term and are investing in him as their point guard of the future; however, looking at the way contracts are being thrown around, this is a great move for Atlanta. With Mike Conley getting over $30 million a year, and Russell Westbrook getting just under $30 million a year, Schroeder’s deal is a bargain. This deal solidifies the notion that he’s the future of the franchise.
The Hawks gave Schroder the keys to the offense when they traded away long time point guard Jeff Teague to the Indiana Pacers. With Teague gone, Schroder, becomes the starting point guard.
