President Donald Trump to Attend Game 5 of World Series

The Washington Nationals and Houston Astros are locked in a 2-2 World Series after four games. This World Series has seen the road team winning each game. The teams are set to lock horns in an epic showdown between Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer before sending the series back to Houston. There is more to this game, however, as a long-standing tradition will be upheld with President Donald Trump set to be in attendance.

President Trump will be the first sitting President to attend a World Series game in nearly two decades. The last sitting President to attend a World Series game was President George W Bush. He notably wore a bulletproof vest in Yankee Stadium to throw out the first pitch a month after the tragedy that was 9/11.

First Pitch

The President will not be throwing out the first pitch for this game. Instead, that honor will go to celebrity chef Jose Andres, a notable President Trump critic. On Thursday, President Trump was asked if he would throw out the first pitch. The President replied “They’re going to have to dress me up in a lot of heavy armor. I’ll look too heavy. I don’t like that.” The Nationals have stated they never asked President Trump to throw out the first pitch. President Trump has yet to throw out a first pitch as President. This makes him the first President since President William Howard Taft in 1910 to not throw a ceremonial first pitch.

The President’s predecessor, President Barack Obama, is a noted Chicago White Sox fan, and many Presidents have ties to baseball. President Trump himself is a noted New York Yankees fan. He has attended many Yankees games before he became President. It is even noted that President Trump played baseball in high school, which make his ties to the game go back to his early days.

Betting Odds and More

If you are a betting fan, there are a host of notable odds one can bet on. A fan can find odds on whether or not President Trump will wear a tie or baseball cap. Other odds that can be found are if he will attend with a family member and if he will be interviewed during the game.

According to Rob Manfred, the President plans to arrive at the game after it begins and leave before it ends. He does not want to be a disruption to the game and fans that are in attendance. He will likely sit away from the crowd with league officials. President Trump will be continuing a long-standing tradition of Presidents attending games of America’s pastime.
