MILWAUKEE – Finally, the National League field is set for Major League Baseball’s 2024 postseason. The NL Wild Card series matchups were locked in after Monday’s action. The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets split their doubleheader in Atlanta to claim the final two spots in the 12-team field and leave the defending NL Champion Arizona Diamondbacks on the outside looking in.

Braves, Mets Split Doubleheader to Lock in NL Wild Card Matchups
All three teams finished with identical 89-73 records. Arizona lost the tiebreaker to both teams after losing its season series against Atlanta and New York while the Braves held a tiebreaker over the Mets to earn the No. 5 seed.
As a result, the Braves will head west to face the No. 4 seed San Diego Padres, and the Mets will head back to Milwaukee, where they dropped two of three to the NL Central champion Brewers this past weekend, as the No. 6 seed in the NL field.
In the American League, the Houston Astros won the AL West and will host the Detroit Tigers in one series while the fourth-seeded Baltimore Orioles will host the fifth-seeded Kansas City Royals in the other. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies will await the NL Wild Card series winners in the Division Series, while the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians await the winners on the AL side.
All four Wild Card series begin Tuesday.
