Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Dodgers’ ace Tyler Glasnow suffered an apparent setback in his rehab. He ultimately did not throw his scheduled simulated game today. The left-hander warmed up in the bullpen and returned to the Los Angeles clubhouse without facing hitters. Glasnow felt discomfort in the elbow, so the throwing session was cut short, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Manager Dave Roberts called it “a setback.”

Tyler Glasnow felt discomfort in his elbow while warming up for his sim game today, and the Dodgers cut it short from there. He’s with the trainers now.

Tyler Glasnow Misses Simulated Start in Apparent Setback
Any delay in Glasnow’s return would be bad news for the Dodgers, who are in Atlanta to take on the Braves in a pivotal four-game series. Glasnow is set to be the number-one starter in a projected playoff rotation for Los Angeles. However, the left-hander has been on the shelf since August with elbow tendinitis. The hope was to get him back in time for at least one regular season before the postseason begins.
Past Injury History
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Glasnow has dealt with elbow issues. Before being traded to the Dodgers, the left-hander had Tommy John surgery with the Tampa Bay Rays. Before getting hurt this year, he proved he has the “swing and miss stuff” so coveted in October. However, he has already surpassed his most innings pitched in a year before landing on the injured list.
Par for the Course
The Dodgers are no stranger to injuries. Every pitcher in the starting rotation from Opening Day has taken a turn on the IL. In addition, no starter will surpass 160 innings thrown this year. This puts incredible pressure on the bullpen to perform, and October is still to come.
A Glimmer of Hope?
There is good news. Yoshinobu Yamamoto made his return from the 60-day IL this week against the Chicago Cubs. He went four innings, striking out eight, and only giving up one unearned run. Also, Gavin Stone, who is on the IL with shoulder inflammation will start throwing again, according to Roberts. Right now, the Dodgers need all the good news they can get.
