Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Austin Hays on the injured list again. This is the second time Hays has been on the IL since joining the Phillies at the trade deadline. He is now sidelined with a kidney infection. This comes as the Phillies have been dealing with multiple injuries in recent days. Hays being placed on the 10-day injured list is retroactive to September 2. He did not play during the Phillies series against the Toronto Blue Jays, and last played on September 1 against the Atlanta Braves. In 19 games with the Phillies, Hays has a .254/.275/.373 line with one home run and five RBI. He has a 79 wRC+ and a -0.1 fWAR since being traded from the Baltimore Orioles on July 26.
Prior to tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins, the Phillies placed OF Austin Hays on the 10-day injured list (retro to 9/2) with a kidney infection. To fill his spot on the 28-man roster, the club recalled OF Cal Stevenson from Lehigh Valley (AAA).

Phillies Outfielder Austin Hays on Injured List Again
Cal Stevenson has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to replace Hays on the 28-man roster. He was previously called up during the first injured list stint for Hays as well. In seven games this season, Stevenson has a .200/.333/.200 line with no home runs and one RBI, along with a 65 wRC+ and a 0.0 fWAR. During his first stint with the Phillies this season, Stevenson made appearances in center field and right field. He has one additional major league appearance in left field that came in 2022 with the Oakland Athletics. Stevenson has never started a major league game at either corner outfield position.
While Hays is on the injured list, the Phillies outfield alignment is likely to return to its pre-trade deadline setup. Johan Rojas will probably play center field every day. Brandon Marsh and Weston Wilson will likely platoon in left field. Stevenson will appear in games as needed. Kody Clemens might also see time in the outfield. Clemens has 12 major league appearances, including five starts, in left field. In addition, he has one major league appearance and start in right field. Clemens has played in the outfield three times this season for the Phillies. At Triple-A Lehigh Valley, he made 19 starts in left field earlier this season.
