The Washington Nationals are calling up outfielder and MLB Pipeline’s No. 3 overall prospect Dylan Crews to make his MLB debut on Monday night against the New York Yankees. Crews will debut during former Nationals All-Star Juan Soto‘s return to D.C.
Crews, 22, was selected by the Nationals with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft out of LSU.

Dylan Crews to Make Major League Debut on Monday
Crews is putting up a solid season playing for Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester. He batted .272 with 13 home runs, 68 RBI, 25 stolen bases, and a .798 OPS. Including his 2023 season in the minors, Crews has batted .277 with 18 home runs, 97 RBI, and 29 stolen bases. The outfielder is also having an incredible August for Triple-A Rochester with a .306 batting average and a .908 OPS, and in his last seven games, he is batting .400 with a 1.005 OPS.
Crews has been hot at the plate this month, slugging .542 with four home runs and 14 RBI in August. In addition to his strong bat, Crews is a strong defender who could play center field for the long term. Crews will be alongside fellow rookie James Wood, who was the former top prospect before he graduated from prospect status. One series that will be worth the excitement is when the Nationals visit the Pittsburgh Pirates in early September. Crews could face his LSU teammate Paul Skenese, who was taken first by the Pirates.
Washington has been in the rebuilding phase for a few years and is building a core of young and controllable talent.
