Rockies Utility Player Suffers Back Injury

The Colorado Rockies have placed utility player Kris Bryant on the IL with a back strain. This is Bryant’s third time on the IL this season. He’s already been on the IL with a back injury and a rib injury.

Injury Show For Bryant

On April 13th, he was placed on the IL with a back injury and missed 31 games. He suffered this injury against the Toronto Blue Jays when he made a catch, twisted to make the catch, and collided with the wall. Bryant then went back to the IL on June 6th with a left rib contusion. And now Bryant is back on the IL with a back strain and is being placed on the 10-day IL. Cal Quantrill was also scratched from tonight’s game for the Rockies. Double-A pitcher Bradley Blalock will make his MLB debut to replace Quantrill.

It’s a series of unfortunate injuries for Bryant, who, despite being on the IL early on in the season, was remaining optimistic. But now things are looking sour for the 32-year-old outfielder and third baseman. Bryant has also played for the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants. Bryant was a former four-time All-Star when he was in his prime. In addition, he is one of the most talked about players in MLB, where he won MVP in 2016 and the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year Award. Unfortunately, 2024 hasn’t been kind to Bryant, who has sported a -2 WAR this season. It’s been a rise and now a fall for Bryant. Bryant is so close to making a huge milestone in his career. He is only three games short of reaching his 162nd game playing for the Rockies from when he became a free agent back in 2022. Bryant also dealt with his fair share of injuries in 2023. In addition, 2022 was no better, as he was dealing with foot and back injuries.
