Angels Infielder Suffers Wrist Inflammation

The LA Angels have placed another player on the injured list, infielder Luis Rengifo, with right wrist inflammation. He was removed from the game yesterday following the injury, and this will be the second time he’s been placed on the IL this season.

Angels Injury Bug Continues Placing Infielder on IL

Renigfo Out Blanc In

The 27-year-old Venezuelan made his MLB Debut with the Angels in 2019 and has spent his whole career with them. He is hitting .300 on the season with six home runs, 30 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases. It’s tough news for the Angels, whose veteran player, Mike Trout, will miss the rest of the season with a meniscus tear in his left knee. The injury doesn’t come as a surprise, as his prior injury this season was also a wrist injury. The injury this time occurred following a swing in the eighth inning of yesterday’s game. The last time he was on the IL, he missed three weeks.

The month of July was difficult for the Angels as five players went on the IL (Jose Cisnero, Andrew Wantz, Anthony Rendon, and Chase Silseth). And now August has not gone any better. Their luck continues to unfold with a season that is cooked. Charles Leblanc‘s contract was selected following Renigfo’s injury. Leblanc is 28 years old and is a Canadian infielder who has also played for the Miami Marlins. With AAA Salt Lake this season, he’s sported a .262 batting average with 48 RBIs and 12 home runs. More tests will be done on Rengifo to evaluate his injury further. Despite the Angels losing Rengifo, they came out with a 5-4 victory against the New York Mets. Before the MLB Trade Deadline, Renigfo was a player who was on the trade block. No moves were made with him, but he could be traded in the offseason.
