Rockies Outfielder’s Great July Could Lead To Better Results

The Colorado Rockies are currently 30 games under .500 at 40-70. They’re 19 wins away from tying their 2023 record of 59 wins. While it’s been a disastrous season, the team must step up during the final two months of the season. Colorado went 11-15 during July. This was largely due to the play of Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle. He won NL Player of the Week on the week of July 1st-7th. Many considered Doyle the National League Player of the Month because of his incredible play over the past few weeks. It’s phenomenal to see the jump the Rockies sophomore outfielder has made from June to July and his rookie season. With his great month of July, we may see better results from the Rockies outfielder during the season’s final two months.

Rockies Outfielder’s Great July Could Lead to Better Results

During July, Doyle went 30 for 90 at the plate. He recorded seven doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, two steals, and 27 runs batted in. He had 19 extra-base hits through 25 games while being walked nine times and striking out 24 times. On July 1st, the Rockies outfielder went three for four with two home runs and three runs batted in during an 8-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. A few weeks later, on July 24th, Doyle went two for four with a homer and five runs batted in during the Rockies ridiculous 20-7 victory over the Boston Red Sox. On Wednesday, the 26-year-old blasted his 11th home run of the month, a 431-foot home run in the eighth to give Colorado a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

During the season, Doyle recorded 103 hits in 383 at-bats. Through 105 games, he has 18 home runs, 21 steals, and 54 runs batted in. The 26-year-old outfielder has a stat line of .269/.330/.473. Doyle has far surpassed most of his numbers from his rookie season. He had 81 hits, 10 home runs, 22 steals, and 48 runs batted in. The Rockies outfielder is certainly learning from his mistakes at the plate. During his rookie season last year, Doyle took home a Gold Glove Award. At the beginning of the season, he set his sights on improving his hitting, which he has surely done.

Can Brenton Doyle Reach These Heights Again?

With only being just 26 years old, Doyle has the potential to grow his game further and become an all-star caliber player. Not only can he play great defense in the outfield, but he’s also been a great base runner, improving his hitting dramatically. In June, Doyle went 21 for 94. In four fewer at-bats this past month, the Rockies outfielder has collected nine additional hits. It wouldn’t be wild to say Doyle has the potential to fight for a National League all-star roster spot next season. The Rockies need all the help they can get. Having Doyle as a franchise cornerstone piece could be huge for this team’s future. Potentially, we could see this Rockies team break their 2023 record of 59 wins. If they do so, it will be mainly in part to Doyle, which could lead Colorado on the rise during the 2025 regular season.

It’s certainly possible for the Rockies outfielder to reach these heights again. Every batter gets into a slump. However, Doyle must help this desperate Rockies team that’s 30 games under .500. It will only be a matter of time until another Colorado batter steps up in the way Doyle has. The 26-year-old outfielder and the Rockies staff must be determined to improve after every game. Once he becomes successful day in and day out at the plate, the Rockies outfielder could be a massive voice in the locker room.
