Yankees, Dodgers Strongly Pursuing Rays Infielder

Tampa Bay infielder Isaac Paredes is on the trade block, and the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are pushing hard to get him. The Yankees have certainly been busy keeping their eye on several players who are potential trade chips, such as Blake Snell and Angels reliever Luis Garcia. The Yankees and Dodgers are two teams really pushing for a World Series win. In addition, both teams are so keen on Paredes that they are in a bidding war, according to USA Today Baseball columnist Bob Nightengale.

Rays Infielder Isaac Paredes Drawing Strong Trade Interest from Yankees, Dodgers

Paredes is a 25-year-old infielder for the Rays. He made his MLB debut in 2020 with the Detroit Tigers. He has a .247 batting average with 16 home runs and 55 RBI this season. Evidently, he can play all infield positions. This makes him a versatile player to add to a team pushing for the postseason and more. The Dodgers are looking to add a missing piece to their puzzle and believe Paredes would make a great fit. As the Yankees are in the same division as the Rays, the Dodgers have the upper hand in acquiring him.

But the Bronx Bombers are also making a push for the Rays’ Brandon Lowe. The Yankees won’t give up without hustling first. The Rays continue to be sellers this season, as Yandy Díaz is also on the trade block. The Texas Rangers have also expressed strong interest in Paredes, but as of now, the Yankees and Dodgers seem to be the two favorites. Paredes provides a power bat that could add supplemental offense. While both teams are already equipped with offense, acquiring more in case someone gets injured is always thinking a step ahead. In addition, his young age, affordable price, coming with team control, and his impressive skill set makes the one-time AL Player of the Week (in 2022) a desirable asset.
