Two Top Pitching Prospects To Represent Marlins At Futures Game

Despite having numerous pitching woes up in the majors, the Marlins have a pair of aces down in the Minors, Noble Meyer and Thomas White. Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports that both pitching prospects will represent the Marlins in this year’s Futures Game in Arlington, Texas. The game has showcased some of the Marlins best prospects and players. Guys such as Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, and Jose Fernandez have all played in the Futures Game. All have gone to become all-star players. Hopefully, these 19-year-old pitchers will shine and showcase their skills against the league’s top prospects.

RHP Noble Meyer

RHP Noble Meyer is ranked as the Marlins No.1 prospect. Meyers was drafted tenth overall in the first round of the 2023 draft. During 2023, he pitched in five games and had a 4.09 ERA, a 1.636 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts. This season, he’s been pitching in High-A and has had a 3.13 ERA, a 1.109 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts. The righty struggled with control early in the season and encountered a minor injury. Despite these issues he was able to make adjustments and has been dealing in the minors.

LHP Thomas White

LHP Thomas White is ranked as the Marlins No.2 prospect following Meyers. White was selected 35th overall in the first round of the 2023 draft by the Marlins. In 2023 he appeared in three games and had a 6.23 ERA, 2.077 WHIP, and seven strikeouts. So far in 2024, he has been pitching in High-A, and appeared in 13 games recording a 3.21 ERA, a 1.446 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts. His most recent start came on June 29 where he went four innings, earning three runs on three home runs and had seven strikeouts.
