The injury woes continue in MLB. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been placed on the 10-day IL with a left knee sprain. Infielder Leo Jimenez has been recalled from Triple-A and will be available for this evening’s game against the Houston Astros. IKF was not in the lineup during Monday’s game, and Davis Schneider replaced him at second base.

Utility Player From Blue Jays Goes On IL
IKF Injury & Triple-A Success
IKF has been a pleasant surprise for the Blue Jays this season. He had a successful month of June and, due to his success, was even moved up to the top of the lineup in yesterday’s game on Canada Day. He’s been one of the Blue Jays’ most productive players, so it’s unfortunate that he will be out of the lineup now. With IKF out, this means that Ernie Clement and Addison Barger will be getting more playing time at third base. Leo Jimenez will be making his MLB Debut with the Blue Jays. Jimenez has recorded a .271 batting average in Triple-A Buffalo, seven home runs, 23 RBIs, and three stolen bases this season. The 23-year-old is from Panama and is getting an excellent opportunity to showcase his skills while IKF is recovering from his injury.
IKF has inevitably been one of the most underrated offensive players this season since he is known for his defense. He had a 13-game hitting streak that was very impressive. The Blue Jays signed him in the offseason to replace Matt Chapman at third base. But IKF can play multiple positions and has moved around at infield positions this season. The Blue Jays lineup continues to be filled with Triple-A Buffalo players, including Spencer Horwitz, sporting a .310 batting average. Horwitz was called up following Cavan Biggio‘s DFA this season. Horwitz also had a successful season with the Blue Jays last season. Jimenez has showcased substantial numbers in Triple-A, but fans hope for a speedy recovery for IKF.
