Detroit Tigers Pitcher Looking Like Prime Trade Bait

28-year-old Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty looks like a hot-ticket pitcher at the MLB Trade Deadline. But will the Tigers be willing to part with him, as it is unclear whether they will be sellers at the deadline? Flaherty has spent time with the Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Cardinals. At his best, Flaherty is a good pitcher at the top of the rotation. He can even be a bonafide ace who can be a big contributor to a team.

Tigers RHP A Prime Candidate to Be Traded

Flaherty & the Tigers

Right-handed pitcher Flaherty signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Tigers on December 20th, 2023, last season. This offseason signing by the Tigers was one of the best, and it’s proven to be with his solid 3.24 ERA this season. While it is unclear whether the Tigers will be sellers, fans on Twitter believe otherwise.

Without a doubt, Flaherty is a pitcher who’s put out quality starts and numbers that any team would want to snag and add to their starting rotation. It’s hard to ignore a pitcher with impressive stats that have been top-notch. He’s been good enough to rank as MLB’s second-highest K-BB%. Ahead of him is left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet, another star pitcher who’s a hot candidate for the trade deadline. The only downfall to Flaherty’s is that he’s given up a lot of home runs in his career. A bunch of them are coming off fly balls that have gone yard this season. But, in his last five starts with the Tigers, they have won four of those five games.

In addition, Flaherty’s 44.2% generated grounders are a career-best for the righty and showcase his raw talent. He continues to be a qualified pitcher who dominates the mound. But fans are also having a hard time with the idea of seeing Flaherty leave with him and Tarik Skubal in the starting rotation. If the Tigers were to make the playoffs, having both in the postseason would be ideal. But with the way things are going, it appears that more than likely, Flaherty will be on the move.
