Rangers Star Pitcher on Verge of Return from Injury

Max Scherzer is nearing a return to the Texas Rangers rotation as he continues to battle back from his injury.

Max Scherzer Nearing Return from Injury

Scherzer is trending in a positive direction with his rehab starts. The Rangers hurler has been working hard to return after undergoing back surgery in the offseason. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy revealed on Sunday that Scherzer will join the starting rotation soon barring any setbacks, via Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

The Rangers have had an up-and-down past week. They took two of three games from the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road in Corey Seager‘s return to LA. However, Texas dropped the first two contests of their road series against the Seattle Mariners heading into Sunday’s affair.

Texas is in second place in the American League West. They would certainly love for Max Scherzer to return soon and help the starting rotation take a step forward.

Rangers Rotation Amid Injuries

Nathan Eovaldi and Jon Gray have both pitched well in 2024. Michael Lorenzen, who signed with Texas before the ’24 campaign, has also impressed. Andrew Heaney and Dane Dunning have been rather inconsistent.

The rotation unquestionably has a high ceiling. Jacob deGrom and Tyler Mahle are among the pitchers on the injured list alongside Scherzer. Once they all re-join the big league team, the Rangers will have one of the better rotations in the game.

So when will Max Scherzer return barring any setbacks? If the most recent reports are accurate, there seems to be a good chance that he will make his 2024 debut within the next week. He’s looked sharp so far in his rehab.

The team will continue to provide updates on the situation. It would not be surprising to see an official announcement made in the next few days.
