Rangers’ Corey Seager Exits With Apparent Injury vs. Tigers

Texas Rangers star shortstop Corey Seager left Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers with an apparent injury.

Corey Seager’s Injury Concern

The Rangers have already dealt with a plethora of injuries during the 2024 season, and now there is even more reason for concern with Seager’s exit on Wednesday.

Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News shared a video of the moment Seager suffered the injury.

Rangers broadcaster Jared Sandler confirmed that Seager left the game with hamstring tightness. Last year’s World Series MVP, Seager missed 31 games in 2023 due to a hamstring injury, so this is certainly a frightening update. The Rangers are obviously hoping for the best. Seager has been heating up in recent action and Texas unquestionably needs his bat in the lineup.

Seager’s 2024 Season

A Corey Seager injury is the last thing the Rangers need right now. Seager entered Wednesday’s game slashing .269/.359/.472/.831. Additionally, he has 13 home runs and five doubles across 56 games. When healthy, Seager is one of the best players in the entire sport. He is a four-time All-Star who played a pivotal role in leading Texas to the World Series during the ’23 campaign.

At the moment, all the Rangers can do is hope that Seager dodged a bullet and this is nothing serious. Anytime a hamstring is involved, especially given Seager’s injury history, there is cause for concern. Hamstring injuries tend to be quite unpredictable.

The Rangers trailed the Seattle Mariners by 5 1/2 games in the American League West before Wednesday’s contest. They entered the game with a 29-32 record. Losing Seager for an extended period of time would make catching the Mariners in the division an immense challenge.

Again, it is currently uncertain how serious the issue is. We will continue to provide updates as the Rangers make them available moving forward.
