Updates On Yankees Top Prospects

The New York Yankees have two ranked prospects in the Major League Baseball top 100 rankings. Yankees top prospects Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones are two players to keep track of as they progress.

The Yankees are on fire from the big-league field. What’s also imperative are the grassroots and how they’re progressing. Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez is returning to recovery and status quo after injury. Spencer Jones is heating up and showing tools in his current play.

Updates On Yankees Top Prospects

OF Jasson Dominguez

Dominguez’s 2023 results and season-ending injury

The Yankees’ most anticipated grassroots talent provided a premature taste of his tool set before being sidelined by injury. Jasson Dominguez is ranked first among the Yankees’ top prospects, and his brief 2023 performance showed why.

Dominguez lingered within two clubs in the minors, double-A and triple-A, before being protected on the 40-man roster. His totals resulted in slashes of .265/.377/.425. Between the two leagues, Dominguez saw 456 total at-bats.

The slugger finished with 121 hits, 76 RBIs, 15 home runs, and 40 stolen bases. He also finished with 89 runs and 194 total bases.

Dominguez’s Rehab And 2024 Process

Late in the year, Dominguez suffered an injury that led to season-ending Tommy John surgery, which kept him off all winter. He recently returned to a rehab setting with the double-A Somerset Patriots.

The Yankees’ top prospect has been on a 20-day rehab assignment, and things are looking up for him. His arm feels good, and his body is settling into the pace of the game.

Yankees management has also been impressed by the pace of the progression and the performance Dominguez has put up so far. He’s currently on an eight-game hit streak with four home runs, two being monster shots.

The real question would be where Dominguez fits in when he’s fully healthy and ready for return. The Yankees are at full roster capacity at the moment.

OF Spencer Jones

Right under Jason Dominguez is the second-ranked prospect for the pinstripes, Spencer Jones. The 2022 1st-round draft pick has been on a hot streak lately, showcasing his tools. Although his numbers don’t pop out to be anything bold, his recent performance has been eye-catching. He currently has a .317 on-base percentage, fueled by a 16-game streak. The outfielder has three home runs, 21 RBIs, and 36 hits so far.

His streaky, spray-type bat is showing well, as is his ability to get on the pads and get over. Jones has 13 stolen bases and has scored 24 times. He’s showing to be more of a presence on the field, and his tools are becoming increasingly emphasized.
