The Philadelphia Phillies placed two players on the injured list on June 3. Brandon Marsh, with a right hamstring strain, and Kody Clemens, with low back spasms, have been placed on the 10-day injured list. To fill the open spots on the 26-man roster, the Phillies have recalled Weston Wilson and David Dahl from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Dahl, the Phillies moved Michael Rucker to the 60-day injured list. The placement of Clemens on the injured list is retroactive to May 31.
Marsh left the Phillies game against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 2 after injuring his hamstring while running the bases. This would lead to Cristian Pache entering the game as a pinch runner. Pache played left field for the remainder of the game. Meanwhile, Clemens was scratched from the Phillies lineup before the game. Whit Merrifield replaced Clemens in the Phillies lineup, playing second base. With Trea Turner also on the injured list, the Phillies are without two regular players in the lineup.
Phillies Place Two Players On Injured List
Dahl, who joined the Phillies before spring training, is in line to get most of the playing time in left field while Marsh is out. It would not be surprising to see Kyle Schwarber make some starts in left field while Marsh is out. In 43 games at Triple-A this season, Dahl has a .340/.416/.660 line with 12 home runs and 26 RBI. Dahl has 50 hits and 24 runs scored in Triple-A this season. In 11 games in left field in Triple-A this season, Dahl has a 1.000 fielding percentage. Meanwhile, in three games in right field, Dahl has a .833 fielding percentage this season. Dahl made three significant appearances with the San Diego Padres last season.
Wilson made his major league debut with the Phillies last season. In eight games with the Phillies last season, Wilson had a .313/.500/.500 line with one home run and two RBI. Additionally, Wilson made appearances at five different defensive positions. In 51 games in Triple-A this season, Wilson scored .211/.295/.389 line with eight home runs and 35 RBI. Wilson has 48 hits and 25 runs scored in Triple-A this season. Defensively, Wilson has a 1.000 fielding percentage in both left and right fields in Triple-A this season. Wilson has also played third base and shortstop in Triple-A this season.
