The White Sox Have a Star Pitcher That’s Not Garrett Crochet

The Chicago White Sox have another pitcher in their starting rotation who is starting to play well and may be the best pitcher on the staff. They aren’t winning many games, they are struggling to score and their defense is not anything close to being strong. They have problems that all the teams in MLB have but they have all the problems that the other teams have. Poor management, poor pitching, and a struggle to win games are everything that this club has.

It doesn’t appear that they are going to get instantly better anytime soon. That’s too bad.

The Chicago White Sox need some help and some players are slowly starting to come around to help. There are a handful of guys that can help them now and have been helping. Ever so quietly, several players are starting to show their stuff and perform better on a bad team. It’s hard to tell because the bad is masking the good but there are some good things about this White Sox team.

Erick Fedde Steps Up for the White Sox

The White Sox starting pitching rotation is a little bit better than people give them credit for. There is one player on it, not named Garrett Crochet, who’s turning into an all-star caliber player. That player is Erick Fedde. The former KBO all-star pitcher has stepped it up and made himself the best pitcher in the White Sox starting rotation.

You need to only look at his last two starts to see just how good he has been. You also can look at his stats to see just how well he is doing, by the numbers. The statistics tell a story about his ever-increasingly good play on the mound but they don’t paint a complete picture of what this newly acquired asset has done and can do for the Sox.

But it doesn’t hurt to look at the numbers to see how well he’s progressing.

By the Numbers

According to Baseball Reference, Fedde has pitched a total of 34 2/3er innings winning two games and has a 2.60 ERA He has a total of 39 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.067. Fedde has allowed 28 hits, 11 runs, and ten earned runs. Fedde is tops on the Sox with these numbers and appears to only be getting better as the season moves forward. He is poised to easily rack up more wins beyond the two he has already.

He has been a nice surprise for the White Sox in a season where the team has been rocked by so many losses. Fedde is starting to become the best pitcher on the staff, even with Crochet on the roster. Crochet was thought to be the top pitcher in the White Sox arsenal but that hasn’t been the case recently. Recently, it’s been all Fedde.

Hopefully, Fedde will continue to play well and will earn additional wins with the Sox. In addition, hopefully, the other pitchers in the starting rotation will step up and get better as well. This team is getting closer to having a decent pitching staff and it would be great if a couple of others, aside from Fedde and Crochet, would play better.
