The Chicago White Sox seem to be suffering from a particular kind of injury. They have three players down right now with hip injuries. It’s happened year in and year out and it never ends. Now, it seems like it’s always the same players who are getting hurt, and while that’s true, we wonder what causes these injuries and if they can ever be prevented. Most any injury is due to a lack of something. Training, hydration, proper stretching, proper strengthening, or a defect in the body. The White Sox indeed seem to suffer from a lot of the same injuries.
Leg, hip, and abdominal injuries are a plague with this team and they don’t seem to be slowing down. The top three players on the team, Yoán Moncada, Eloy Jiménez, and Luis Robert Jr. are all shelved right now thanks to injuries that are very similar. No one can seem to figure out the cause of the injuries. People speculate but we never know what causes them. Maybe it was a lack of proper base running during spring training (since the injuries happened so close to the start of the season).
Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to stop.
White Sox Injury Woes Continue
With Yoan Moncada serving as the latest member of the White Sox to get hit with the injury bug, @aj_pierzynskiFT begs the question…
“What are they doing [from a training standpoint] that other teams aren’t?” 🤔

The big three as some like to call them, Moncada, Robert Jr., and Jiménez were all taken out by leg and mid-body injuries. Moncada was taken down by a left adductor strain- that’s a hip injury. Robert Jr. was felled by a right hip flexor strain. Again, a hip injury. Finally, Jiménez is suffering from the same strain that Moncada is suffering from. The White Sox must have something, after years of these types of injuries, that they can do to prevent this from happening repeatedly.
In doing the research for this article, the one that sticks out the most was from the Fremont Therapy Group which said that it can be prevented by warming up properly, making sure that you are strengthening the area, and also by a training staff that helps you get that area strong. Perhaps the White Sox need to work on strengthening the lower bodies of their players to ensure that things like this don’t keep happening. There must be something that they can do to prevent this from happening, repeatedly.
A Saving Grace
Chicago could be lucky in terms of how soon these guys come back from these injuries. There was a recent report that said that Robert Jr., would be back at about the end of May. Jimenez could be back in the next few days and Moncada could be back sometime in the middle of July. That’s promising for the Sox. The sooner they get these guys back, the better off they will be.
However, what happens if they wind up hurt again? With these three, it’s going to happen. What if it’s another hip or a lower-body injury? Then you must point the finger at the White Sox training staff for bringing them back way too soon. They need to heal and perhaps they should let them heal longer than normal. The White Sox aren’t going to the World Series anyway. Let them rest and repair themselves. Let’s not jeopardize their future by having them play for a team that’s heading for a record amount of losses.
