Phillies Unveil City Connect Uniforms

The Philadelphia Phillies unveil City Connect uniforms that will be worn for every Friday home game this season. They will debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 12. During spring training, the team did a photo shoot to prepare for the jerseys to be revealed. Five players, José Alvarado, Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Bryson Stott, and Trea Turner, modeled the new uniforms. The theme for the uniforms is “Unapologetically Philly” to connect the city and the team. As part of this effort, a “City of Brotherly Love” patch is on one of the jersey sleeves. This uniform was revealed on April 5.

During the offseason, a Zack Wheeler uniform was leaked on eBay, which sparked rumors. It had been announced during the offseason that the Phillies would be one of the teams adding City Connect jerseys this season. This leaked uniform turned out to be the actual City Connect jersey. The leak did not include the cap or the pants that go with the new City Connect jersey. However, the hat was leaked before the announcement. The other elements that make up the uniform were not leaked before the official announcement.

The uniform is primarily blue, and the color scheme resembles the flag of the city of Philadelphia. The front of the jersey reads “PHILLY” in a font specifically for these uniforms. The midnight blue helmet and cap are also new for the team. Additionally, both feature the Liberty Bell with a star on each side. The bell is blue and features the city skyline. At one point, the jersey changes from light blue to midnight blue. The names on the back of the jersey are in yellow. This City Connect uniform replaces the red alternate jersey in the Phillies five uniform allotment.
