She’s been recognized for her work with the team regarding health and wellness programs. Her career with the Giants represents an extensive portfolio of different roles she worked in. In 2015, she earned a master’s degree in sports management from the University of San Francisco. In addition, she worked as the chief information officer for the baseball program. The Giants then promoted her to the major league coaching staff as an assistant in January of 2020. Having a woman and more women in sports is a huge step in the right direction.
Nakken also has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She deserves credit as she has worked for the Giants front office in various roles over the past nine years. In the last four years, she has also been a part of the Giants coaching staff. This also highlighted her as the first full-time female to coach in MLB. For a woman to achieve this status in MLB is huge, as well as having the first female coach on the field during a major league game. Nakken will be a great role model and inspiration for other women who want to earn themselves a role in MLB. It is great that women are making their mark and earning the respect they deserve in sports and sports history.

History has now been made with Alyssa Nakken. She has worked her up with the Giants organization to earn status in the big leagues. It is exciting to see more women in baseball and how their careers will continue to progress in MLB. Nakken is not the only woman in baseball to earn respect and recognition. Kim Ng helped the Miami Marlins achieve their first postseason appearance since 2020 this season. As well as making their first postseason appearance in a 162-game season since 2003. Over the years, It will be exciting to see more women maintain status in sports through managerial roles in MLB.
