On to Today’s Best Bets!
Guardians @ Rangers
To kick off the second half of the MLB season, we will be looking at a matchup that sees the Cleveland Guardians travel to Globe Life Field to take on the Texas Rangers. The Rangers’ roster had a bustling All-Star break. They sent a league leading six players to Seattle for the mid-summer classic, including Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, and Adolis Garcia. This fact, combined with their lackluster performance so far in July (3-6), my prediction is this team will come out flat.
Jon Gray gets the start today for the home team. He has fallen short of his strikeout line in his last three starts, and today that line is set at 4.5. I like this trend to continue and for a well-rested Guardians lineup to jump on the struggling pitcher.
The Pick: SGP Jon Gray Under 4.5 Ks + Guardians +3.5 Alt Run Line (-110) 1U
Fun Pick: Guardians F5 ML (+116) 0.25U
Marlins @ Orioles
In our second offering of the day, the Baltimore Orioles host the Miami Marlins. Last year’s unanimous NL Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara takes the bump for the fish this evening. So far this season, he has struggled mightily. Sporting a 4.72 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and has allowed 62 runs in just 18 games pitched. The story for the host’s starting pitcher could be better. Dean Kremer, through 18 starts this season, sports a 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and has allowed 55 runs.
Lackluster pitching, two offenses that have been red hot in the first half of July, and a favorable weather forecast over Camden yards. This can mean only one thing, runs, runs, runs.
The Pick: Marlins @ Orioles F5 total Over 4.5 Runs (-122) 1U
Additional Fun Picks:
- Willy Adames 1+ RBI (+125) .25U
Rationale: 10 extra-base hits in his last ten games, hot and sunny today in Cincinnati
- PPD Tyler Glasnow 8+ Ks / Tampa Bay Rays to Win (+110) .5U
Rationale: He has hit this strikeout number in three of his last three, with 12 strikeouts in his previous meeting with the Royals this season.
