Just by looking at Galiz’s grades, there’s no doubt as to why he is seen as a future franchise player. All of his tools are above the charts and, seeing as he is so young, there is a lot of optimism that he will continue to improve in all areas of his game.
Yankees International Prospects
Jesus Galiz is a 16-year-old phenom who grew up dreaming of becoming the next Gleyber Torres. If the Yankees have their wish, it’s possible that both Torres and Galiz will share the same field for years to come. Just last year, the Yankees were able to sign Jasson Dominguez to the tune of a $5.1 million signing bonus. The Yankees will certainly hope to have the same success with another young international prospect in Galiz. The former shortstop has made a quick and easy transition as a future backstop. According to MLB.com’s scouting report, he is noted for his quick feet, high baseball IQ, and overall athleticism. Galiz is already an excellent contact hitter known to use the entire field, but he is expected to develop into a plus power hitter as he continues to progress.
As with Dominguez, Galiz’s age will give any organization that signs him, be it the Yankees or someone else, the ability to be very patient. Galiz is not expected to make his MLB debut for several years even after being signed.
Future
Obviously, as with any young prospect, there is always a measure of uncertainty. However, Galiz currently displays all the tools that make coaches and scouts salivate. When Galiz does sign, he will no doubt quickly shoot up the prospect rankings and will arguably be the best catching prospect for that team.
The future certainly looks very bright for Jesus Galiz and baseball fans can look forward to the day when he takes the field.
