It seemed like just another call-up, send-down moment at the end of June when Gavin Lux was called up to AAA Oklahoma City. Baseball fans see minor league prospects go up and down quite a bit during the course of a year. However, since June 27, Gavin Lux has been tearing up AAA pitching over the course of his 17 games for the OKC Dodgers. In fact, Gavin Lux is turning heads in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Even Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has taken notice of Mr. Lux.
Gavin Lux went 5-for-6 yesterday, has homered in five straight games and is slashing .531/.577/1.063 in 15 games at the Triple-A level.
It’s safe to say he has caught the attention of Dave Roberts.#Dodgers #LABleedsBlue pic.twitter.com/P7Ezrd8sBB

The Facts:
Gavin Lux has been on fire since his call up to AAA. He is currently slashing .487/.552/.1512 with seven home runs and 23 RBI in his 18 games for the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Lux started his AAA career with a 16 game hit streak. This ludicrous streak was snapped on the 20th of July when opposing pitchers held him to an 0-4 performance. More impressively, he went on a stretch of five straight games with a home run.
If you haven’t seen Gavin Lux, I suggest you watch him smoke these baseballs. Outfielders don’t even move. All 6 of these HR’s are in his last 5 games. pic.twitter.com/XB9kNQ5hhQ

Looking to the Future:
It is refreshing to see Lux’s success in the minor leagues. However, if you are a fan of the Dodgers you are most likely wondering what this means for the Big League Club. Although Lux is a shortstop, he started at 2nd base for OKC last night. This decision makes sense considering the Dodgers have a relatively young Corey Seager holding down the Shortstop position. Lux’s future with the Los Angeles Dodgers may be as a second baseman. That would be quite the combination up the middle with two athletic, left-handed hitting infielders. Regardless of the specifics of where or when he will play for the Dodgers; it is safe to say that Gavin Lux is turning heads in the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization.
Trade Deadline:
Many Dodger fans may be worried that Lux could be trade bait right before the trade deadline. However, the Dodgers have seen the rewards of trusting their farm system. Guys like: Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Matt Beaty, and Walker Buehler were all drafted, and groomed by the Dodgers minor league system. Gavin Lux will not be used as a quick fix for this years Dodgers team via trade. He is one of the Dodgers top prospects and they intend for him to stay in a Dodger uniform for a long time.
