This will necessarily be short, as the Premiership kicks off tonight when the Saints host Gloucester at Franklin’s Gardens in the first game of the season. I wanted to put on record my prediction for the final table come May 17th next year before a ball (or head) is kicked in anger. I’ll probably end up with some Kinder (which, sadly, is nothing to do with Tinder!) egg on my face, but on the off chance that my ‘picking names out of a hat’ system actually pays off I will be very smug (so no chance then!). Anyway enough nonsense, this is how I think the table will look at the end of Round 22 –
- Saracens
- Saints – but winning the final again at Twickenham
- Leicester
- Bath
- Gloucester
- Harlequins
- Sale
- Exeter
- Wasps
- London Irish
- London Welsh
- Newcastle
To really push my luck I then have a repeat of last season’s final with Saints again carrying off the title and Saracens the bridesmaids on the last day. I think the Falcons will to fall to the Championship – passing Bristol who will finally make it back to the top tier. Pretty ballsy predictions eh? But then sitting on the bench only gives you splinters! I will be posting my weekly predictions each Thursday and you can laugh when I summarise what actually happened at www.rugbyoldbloke.wordpress.com on the following Monday. My guesses for Round 1 are already there – cue hoots of derision for next week. The rest of the blog and my twitter feed (@rugbyoldbloke) feature lots more incoherent ramblings about rugby – most of it ‘for adults only’.
