The ARCA Racing Series 2014 Season is already halfway over. This year has brought many milestones and greater competition than any season to date. And now, the race to this years points championship will be what everyone is paying attention too as we come down the stretch.
As the series travels to Chicago next week, Grant Enfinger and Mason Mitchell are separated by just 10 points in Series Standings. Add 200 points to that and you’ll see how far behind the third place driver is, Frank Kimmel. Its shaping up to be a two-man neck and neck fight to the finish.
Grant Enfinger, a 29-year-old from Fairhope, Alabama; has shown some impressive racing so far this year winning the first three races and then grabbing another a few weeks ago. He compiled six top 5’s and nine top 10’s so far this year (10 races).
Mason Mitchell, a 20 year old from West Des Moines, Iowa; is still without a win in his ARCA racing career and has finished second 4 times this season. However Mitchell has been the most consistent driver in the series this season – finishing in the top 10 in each of the ten races so far to pile up the points and get within striking distance of the series lead.
Mitchell is quickly closing in on his first win, and this points race is so tight that there’s a good chance that he takes over the points lead once he gets that win.
No matter who takes the big trophy at the end of the season, it’s looking like we have a great second half to look forward to, and the potential to have an epic fight for the ARCA Championship.
