The WWE Divas division missed out on WrestleMania last year because of time constraints, but it seems WWE are making up for it this year by putting every Diva on the roster into the Mania match.
After current Divas champion AJ Lee made some harsh comments about Vickie Guerrero on Smackdown last week, the current General Manager of Raw announced that the Divas champion will be defending her title in perhaps one of her hardest matches to date.
The rules of the match have not been properly announced yet, so all we know for sure is that AJ doesn’t have to be pinned for her to lose the title.
With Total Divas making its return and the hype behind The Bellas right now, Nikki would be my pick to take the title. Her new Rack Attack finisher looks like a great addition to her arsenal and could win her the title this weekend.
That being said, rumours surrounding the title had AJ dropping her title to AJ before Wrestlemania but Naomi was injured and so the title match never happened. So Naomi could also take the title.
For me the best idea would be for Tamina to pin AJ for the title, I think there will be a brilliant feud between the two, it’s been building for months and the smile on Tamina’s face when she found out she was in the match said it all. She then turned on AJ on Friday Night Smackdown and left her to be defeated by The Bellas.
Maybe one of the Total Divas could take the title and Tamina could perhaps cost AJ her championship to open up that feud whilst also giving the Divas division a second feud over the title. I think this is what the division lacks, it is so title based that the divas like Summer Rae and Emma are stuck having dance offs because WWE doesn’t know what to do with them if they are not stuck in a title match.
I’m impressed that WWE have put all the divas on show on the grandest stage of them all and now I feel the best will stand out regardless. Lita’s comments about the Divas division this week shows how everyone sees the division and hopefully WWE will now take note and this will mark a step in the right direction.
Paige will hopefully appear on the main roster after WrestleMania and this would be a great way to set up her debut as well. The fact that no one can really predict a winner means that WWE have played it well and included all the divas who haven’t been used in a while. If they had done something like this a few months earlier then maybe Kaitlyn wouldn’t have left.
Whilst I loved the idea that their might have been a legendary diva fighting AJ at WrestleMania, I very much prefer this one and I think the future of the Divas division will rise up at the showcase of the immortals.
