Matt Nichols, Winnipeg – $7554
Matt Nichols is back. CFL.ca lists Nichols as their third overall quarterback this week, but he is the eighth-cheapest pivot in CFL Fantasy. Nichols is an incredible value and has an excellent floor of 240 yards and two touchdowns. After a great week against Toronto, it’s a no-brainer to start him this week at home against the Argonauts. You may even want to start more than one Blue Bomber…
Andrew Harris, Winnipeg – $10191
Harris had 27 carries for 161 yards and a touchdown, with two receptions for 16 yards and another score against the Argonauts in Toronto. Andrew Harris is elite. In the rematch at home in Winnipeg, Harris will again be heavily used. 27 carries is probably the ceiling, but it will be a surprise if he doesn’t see 15 to 20 touches, a recipe for fantasy success.
Tyrell Sutton, Montreal – $6347
It has been a slow start to the season for Tyrell Sutton, but this could be the week he breaks out. Edmonton has allowed a fantasy startable running back in every single week this season, including elite weeks from Mercer Timmis and James Wilder Jr. Secondly, Sutton has averaged 14.4 touches per game, which assures baseline production. Next, Montreal’s offense has been anemic, but an injury-riddled Eskimos defence could allow the Alouettes to remain involved in the game. Lastly, if Johnny Manziel plays or even starts, Edmonton’s defence will have to adjust for a mobile quarterback, and short check-down passes in a new offence are possible as well.
D’haquille Williams, Edmonton – $7309
Duke Williams comfortably leads the CFL in both targets and receiving yards, and is currently on pace to surpass Brandon Zylstra’s incredible 2017 receiving number. Mike Reilly is the league’s top fantasy quarterback, and Williams is his top pass catcher. You might not be able to afford to start Reilly, but you should find a way to start Duke.
BJ Cunningham, Montreal – $5128
Montreal has not offered a wealth of fantasy value, and it seems perilous to endorse multiple Alouettes as CFL Fantasy starters, but here we are. Cunningham is Montreal’s boundary slotback, which averages the most targets per game, and he has been Montreal’s most consistent receiver. Chris Williams’ departure vacates an average of six targets per game, and Johnny Manziel’s arrival could provide improved quarterback play. Cunningham lines up against Aaron Grymes, but he should see enough volume to be productive.
