On Friday, December 22, 2017, the Atlanta Havoc of the American Arena League (AAL) announced that they have signed former Jacksonville Sharks Defensive Back Micheaux Robinson.
Micheaux Robinson Signs with Atlanta Havoc
Robinson is now the third Shark in the last few weeks to sign with the Havoc. Defensive Back LaRoche Jackson and Wide Receiver Thyron Lewis have previously signed, both playing with the Sharks last season.
Robinson spent eight years with Jacksonville, winning two league championship games.
The Sharks said that they have kept Robinson for the 2018 National Arena League (NAL) season, but did not sign the contract yet. Beating the Sharks to it, the Havoc jumped right in and gave Robinson the phone call.
Last season with the Jacksonville Sharks, Robinson had a total of 37.5 tackles, five interceptions for five yards, and three pass breakups. Robinson lead the Sharks in tackles.
What this means for Atlanta
Obviously, this is a huge addition to the Havoc’s defense, but how much success will this bring?
Robinson is obviously a tackling corner, which means he most likely plays Man-Defense most of the time.
Robinson may be 5’9″, but that doesn’t mean he is weak. It is super tough to beat this defensive back and even tougher to break a tackle against him.
Jackson is also another tackling defensive back, which means they have some serious power and strength at defense.
Two smart players on one side of the ball means that it will be extremely hard to get past the Havoc’s defense. They will definitely wreak havoc against their opponents.
Offensively, Lewis had 42-receptions for 442-yards for eight touchdowns with the Sharks last season.
This will help Atlanta out, but one receiver can’t get the job done every single game.
Defense will be key for the Havoc and they have exactly that so far in the off-season.
