Iowa Speedway Fans Should Gear up for 2nd Best Race of the Season

An Iowa Speedway fan called into a local, Iowa Sports Call-in TV Show, SoundOff, last Sunday. The caller, Marty from Des Moines, Iowa, called to rave about the Iowa Corn Indy 300 and Verizon IndyCar Series, and he had some pretty cool things to say.

“For anybody in the area, if you at all like racing, boy I’ll tell ya what…” Marty in Des Moines said. “If you go over there Saturday and Sunday and watch these IndyCar guys, they are the pro drivers.”

“We all like our NASCAR, and those guys run around the track in 26 seconds a lap. IndyCar does it in 17 seconds a lap,” Marty said. “You won’t believe it, it’s the most fun racing ever, head over to the Iowa Speedway.”

It is hard to disagree.

Iowa Speedway Fans Should Gear up for 2nd Best Race of the Season

When the Verizon IndyCar Series roars into Newton, this weekend, fans will be treated to a show. In fact, fans will get to see the best racing on the IndyCar Circuit… next to the Indianapolis 500.

That’s right, when they throw the open-wheeled monsters into the small arena that is Iowa Speedway, it promises to create chaos.

Solely on the fact of how close these cars will be forced to get, on the smallest, most compact circuit in the series could be the reason for this being a great race.

Just look back to last season, young gun Sage Karam tried to thread the needle to pass veteran Ed Carpenter. The incident erupted into a big argument, not quite a fight, between the two drivers, creating a hectic fallout.

It will be interesting to see what arises at Iowa this year.

Iowa is the second best race on the circuit, and if fans have any doubt, they should tune in on Sunday Afternoon.

Like Marty said, you won’t believe it.
