The Detroit Pistons have agreed to re-sign restricted free agent center Andre Drummond to a contract worth $130 million over 5 years. The contract cannot officially be signed until the end of the NBA’s moratorium period on July 7th.

Report: Andre Drummond Agrees to Re-sign with Detroit Pistons
Drummond’s contract will take him through the end of the 2021 season. He has a player option after the fourth year.
Drummond averaged 16.2 points, 14.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season for the Detroit Pistons. Drummond’s numbers in previous seasons have been good, but last season they were great. Drummond averaged a double-double throughout last season, in what was his breakout year. Drummond has not only proved his quality with his stats, but he’s proved he can be relied upon by the Pistons. Drummond’s durability the last three season’s has been amazing, playing 244 games out of a possible 246. The Pistons made the playoffs last season with Drummond, but were swept by the eventual NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. Drummond played in all four playoffs games against the Cavaliers, and put up his usual numbers on the court. But Drummond’s effort alone was nowhere near enough to get past a great Cleveland team.
Looking forward, Drummond is a pillar of strength in the paint for the Pistons. Capable of a double-double every night, Drummond is slowly developing into the leader for the Pistons, and into one of the more dominating figures in the NBA. Drummond has proved he can not only stay healthy, but he can also be the face of the city of Detroit. Drummond is a key re-signing by the Pistons and has a very bright future in the league. Drummond will certainly be the driving force for this Pistons team, hoping to make the playoffs for a second year in a row. The City of Detroit has wasted the careers of some very talented athletes in the past. Hopefully down the line Drummond isn’t added to that disappointing list.
Drummond is heading into his fifth season in the league, during which he’ll be 23 years old. Drummond has remained a one team man by re-signing with Detroit. Drummond was drafted out of the University of Connecticut in 2012, ninth overall by the Pistons.
