A reclamation project, Parenteau found new life in 2015-16 with the Toronto Maple Leafs under coach Mike Babcock. He rewarded the skilled depth forward with plenty of opportunity during the 2014-15 season to acquit himself after failing to impress with the rival Montreal Canadiens. Parenteau responded with a 20-goal season, adding 21 assists for 41 points.

Drafted by the Anaheim Ducks at 264th in the ninth round, Parenteau toiled in the minor leagues until 2006-07, when he played five games with the Chicago Blackhawks. It would be another three years before Parenteau re-emerged with the New York Rangers in 2009-10. His most productive NHL season was in 2011-12 with the New York Islanders, notching 18 goals and 49 assists.

A two-time 20-goal scorer, Parenteau has played for, or been signed to seven NHL franchises in his career. This is the first team that he will have played for twice.

The 33-year-old has played 424 career games. He has scored 101 goals and 167 assists for 268 career points. Parenteau has put up strong possession stats throughout his career. He had a 50.7% CF with the Leafs last season. This included a positive 4.45 CF60 relative to teammates.
