The following is a press release from Premiership Rugby.
Andy Goode Equals Premiership Scoring Record
Andy Goode joined a select list of players on Sunday after the Aviva Premiership Rugby legend completed his comeback with Newcastle Falcons.
Goode, who signed a short-term contract in the wake of Falcons injuries at fly-half, came on in the second half at the Madejski Stadium and kicked five points.
It was not enough to clinch victory – Falcons went on to lose 20-15 despite threatening a late turnaround – but it did see Goode further cement his place in Aviva Premiership Rugby folklore.
He became only the fourth player to score points for five different Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs, 18 years on from starting his career with Leicester Tigers.
Having also appeared for Saracens, Worcester Warriors and Wasps in a period that spans almost two decades, the 35-year-old can also lay claim to the longest Aviva Premiership Rugby career of any player.
But he has not played for the most clubs – former England scrum-half Andy Gomarsall scored points for Wasps, Bedford Blues, Gloucester Rugby, Worcester and Harlequins, though did not get on the scoresheet for Bath Rugby or Leeds.
Peter Richards is the only player to make the list who has not kicked points off the tee, having squeezed in stints with London Irish, Harlequins, Bristol Rugby, Wasps and Gloucester – scoring 21 tries – between 1997 and 2007.
The other name on the list is still going in Aviva Premiership Rugby, after nailing the last-gasp kick that sent Worcester up to the top-flight at the expense of Bristol last season.
At 29, Ryan Lamb is also the youngest of the four, and since making his debut for Gloucester in 2004, has also gone on to score for Irish, Northampton Saints and Leicester.
