College Basketball Top 25: Week 10

Find out what college basketball teams made the weekly top 25 ranking, which done by lead college basketball analyst Bailey VanHouten.

Another week of college basketball is in the books. As promised, here is my college basketball Top 25 after Week 10 of the season:

College Basketball Top 25: Week 10

  1. Kansas Jayhawks (Previous: 2)

Record: 14-1

Week Record: 2-0

Kansas certainly earned their No. 1 ranking this week with the big win over Oklahoma last Monday. Credit Frank Mason’s defense as the underappreciated story of that game.

  1. Oklahoma Sooners (1)

Record: 13-1

Week Record: 1-1

Despite losing this week, Oklahoma only slid one spot due to the fact that their loss was in four overtimes in Allen Fieldhouse on Big Monday. Sooners are still a very legitimate team.

  1. North Carolina Tar Heels (3)

Record: 15-2

Week Record: 2-0

North Carolina did a nice job taking care of business this week, mostly riding the wide shoulders of senior forward Brice Johnson, who had an incredible game against Florida State on Monday.

  1. Maryland Terrapins (4)

Record: 15-1

Week Record: 2-0

It took a buzzer-beater from Melo Trimble, but the Terrapins continue to keep winning games since their loss to North Carolina.

  1. Michigan State Spartans (6)

Record: 16-1

Week Record: 2-0

Michigan State bounced back rather nicely from their defeat to Iowa a week ago, and blew out both Illinois and Penn State this week. Denzel Valentine returned against PSU so expect the Spartans to stay in the top five for a while.

  1. Villanova Wildcats (10)

Record: 14-2

Week Record: 2-0

Villanova continues to dominate the Big East but just continuing to win. They beat Butler by five this week and are a team heading in a positive direction.

  1. Xavier Musketeers (8)

Record: 14-1

Week Record: 1-0

Xavier’s only game this week was against St. John’s, who has really struggled in Chris Mullins’ first season. Nonetheless, the Musketeers took care of business, and continue to stay in the top ten.

  1. Miami Hurricanes (9)

Record: 13-1

Week Record: 1-0

Miami handled their in-state rival this week in Florida State, as the Hurricane got the win at home. Keeping their head above water in the ACC will be key, and they will need to win some tough road games to win the conference’s regular season title.

  1. SMU Mustangs (12)

Record: 15-0

Week Record: 2-0

Despite knowingly unable to participate in any postseason games this year, the Mustangs have continued to win, as they grinded out a huge team win over Cincinnati this week.

  1. Duke Blue Devils (11)

Record: 14-2

Week Record: 2-0

Duke has quietly been doing alright without Amile Jefferson, despite the loss to Utah a few weeks ago. Remind yourself that the Utes have Jakob Poeltl, one of the best big men in the country, and it is easy to see why Duke has been able to work with Brandon Ingram at the four.

  1. West Virginia Mountaineers (17) (14-1)
  2. Iowa Hawkeyes (20) (12-3)
  3. Pittsburgh Panthers (19) (14-1)
  4. South Carolina Gamecocks (22) (15-0)
  5. Providence Friars (13) (14-2)
  6. Arizona Wildcats (7) (13-3)
  7. Texas A&M Aggies (21) (13-2)
  8. Virginia Cavaliers (6) (12-3)
  9. Iowa State Cyclones (15) (12-3)
  10. Kentucky Wildcats (14) (12-3)
  11. Baylor Bears (UnR) (12-3)
  12. Purdue Boilermakers (16) (14-3)
  13. Louisville Cardinals (18) (13-3)
  14. Butler Bulldogs (23) (12-4)
  15. Connecticut Huskies (24) (11-4)

T26. Arkansas Little-Rock, Hawaii, Oregon, Saint Mary’s

Dropped Out: No. 25 Saint Mary’s Gaels
