Right after the Indoor Football League (IFL) announced their expansion to a team in San Diego, the National Arena League (NAL) has announced their first of many rumored expansion teams: New York.

New York Streets Approved Expansion for National Arena League

New York was rumored for many months, dating all the way back to before July and August of 2018. Today is the day, as they have officially announced that the New York Streets will be joining the league.

The team is owned by Corey Galloway, who has been managing the New York Streets Facebook Page and has been posting on there for quite some time.

What We Know

There are many things that we now know after the league came out with the official statement. The most interesting thing that is new to us is that the Streets have two “home” arenas. These two are Westchester County Center and Madison Square Garden.

Westchester County Center is located in White Plains, NY, which is about 45 minutes north of New York, NY. Madison Square Garden is located in New York, NY and is home of the New York Knicks. According to the league press release, Madison Square Garden is where arena football all started.

If the league continues to have 18 weeks in the 2019 season and 15 or 16 games for the teams, that would mean the Streets would have five or six games in Westchester County Center and two games in Madison Square Garden.

In Brooklyn, there is a large facility for players to practice, called SACPLEX. It is located in Brooklyn and will be home for the Streets’ offices of operation and practice field(s). This is a huge plus for the Streets, as everything seems to be in one place.

The Streets’ first player signed is Quarterback, Dave Legree. He played at Syracuse University in the early 2010’s.
