Jonathan Jennings, BC – $6933
Is Jonathan Jennings back? With a miraculous come from behind victory last weekend, Jennings certainly made a statement in his full-time return to the starting role. Bargain quarterbacks are a frequent recommendation in this space. Jennings’ less than $7,000 salary is the play this week. In each of the last three games, the Tiger-Cats have allowed at least 270 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. That level of consistent production should allow Jennings to repeat as a top five CFL Fantasy quarterback this week.
Andrew Harris, Winnipeg – $7822
The Canadian superstar has averaged a robust 16.3 touches a week. If healthy this weekend, Andrew Harris should easily see that level of work against an Eskimos defence that continues to ingratiate themselves to opposing running backs. Harris is 85 yards short of setting a new career high in rushing. He could accomplish the feat against an Edmonton side that has been allowing 127.3 rushing yards per game. Keep your eye on practice reports, but if Andrew Harris is starting, get him in your lineup.
William Stanback, Montreal – $4554
With Tyrell Sutton traded to the BC Lions, William Stanback is now cemented as the starting running back for the Montreal Alouettes. Stanback is tied with Don Jackson for the lead in running back yards per carry at 6.4, and has averaged 13.3 touches per game over the past week. While Saskatchewan is an above average rushing defence, they have allowed 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game over their last three matches. If Antonio Pipkin doesn’t vulture the goal line carries, Stanback will have a chance to score.
Bryant Mitchell, Edmonton – $5180
Since Derel Walker went down, Bryant Mitchell has seized his opportunity and established himself as a premier pass catcher. In the last three games, Mitchell leads the league in both targets and receptions, yards after the catch, and ranks fourth for receiving yards. Winnipeg has been a stingier passing defence in recent games, but Mitchell should remain heavily involved in the Eskimos potent offence.
Bryan Burnham, B.C. – $7575
Burnham’s usage has increased dramatically since Emmanuel Arceneaux went down with an injury. With Arceneaux out, Burnham should remain the lead target in B.C. and a fantasy force. According to slotbacklabs.com, Burnham has seen the third most targets, second most receptions, and most touchdowns over the last three weeks. While Burnham’s volume and usage is secure, especially if Jonathan Jennings remains under centre.
