Take a look at our Week 13 starts for CFL Fantasy!
Travis Lulay, BC – $7115
If you want to start a few big money players, you’re going to need a bargain at quarterback. There are a few viable options, but Travis Lulay is the most promising. While Lulay will be without his premier pass-catcher Emmanuel Arceneaux, there is a reason to be excited about him as a value play. Ottawa comes into this matchup following a disheartening defeat to the Alouettes, and have been a middling defence against quarterbacks, allowing several productive starts recently. Lastly, Lulay’s best game of the season came on the road against Ottawa in Week 6. Lulay should return on his salary and have a chance for greater upside.
Alex Green, Hamilton – $7548
Hamilton head coach June Jones loves Alex Green. When Green fumbled a red zone carry early in the third quarter, Jones immediately put the ball back in his running back’s hands on their next possession. In fact, Green received 10 of his 18 total carries of the game after his fumble. Green receives consistent touches and red zone opportunities in a very good offence. That is the recipe for a fantasy stud. Green will be productive again for CFL Fantasy in the rematch against the Argos.
Don Jackson, Calgary – $6424
The case for Don Jackson is exactly the same as last week: The Eskimos always allow a fantasy startable running back. Last week, Jackson had 17 carries for 115 yards, with two receptions for 21 yards. In addition, Jackson averages 86.1 yards per game, which if prorated over the games he missed, would rank him second in total rushing yards. While he is on the road, Jackson has established himself as the Stampeders’ heir to Jerome Messam’s bellcow role.
D’haquille Williams, Edmonton – $8158
Eskimos head coach Jason Maas said this week that Derel Walker will miss significant time with a knee injury suffered last week against Calgary. While it is disappointing a superstar like Walker won’t be on the field, it means that Duke Williams will be the focal point of the Eskimos passing offence. Williams was excellent for fantasy last week against Calgary, and will certainly see a high volume of targets in the rematch at home. He’s an auto start.
Terrence Toliver, Hamilton – $5408
Similar to Duke Williams above, Terrence Toliver’s path to fantasy value is paved by injury to a fellow receiver. Jaelen Saunders appears to be done for the season, so that means Toliver will have an opportunity for a greater share of target volume. Saunders averaged 7.1 targets a game, and Jeremiah Masoli has thrown the third most passes in the league. There is an obvious opportunity there for a Hamilton receiver, and Toliver has been quietly climbing slotbacklabs.com’s average air yards metric (61 yards per game, good for 12th). Now healthy, Toliver is an excellent receiver and has a great chance to find the end zone.
